55% of the fleet’s workload accounts for the movement of aggregates to concrete producing companies, 40% for the movement of agricultural produce and feeds to grain merchants / feed companies and 5% for coal and other products. Based on current statistics, Alfred Hymas Ltd transports more than 6500 tonnes per day. That’s around 2,000,000 tonnes per year!

The all modern, predominantly Volvo and Mercedes fleet, work out of operating centres in Great North Road, Sinderby, Thirsk (Head Office), Ripon, Keighley and Masham. Servicing both long and short term contracts, staff and customers alike continue to enjoy an excellent working relationship with this successful family business.
The Fleet
Today, the Company’s fleet is 76 HGV's, employing 112 members of staff. The Company operates from its purpose-built site in Great North Road, Sinderby, Thirsk. Prior to moving to Great North Road in January 2020, we operated from the same depot in Burton Leonard for more than one hundred years, where Alfred Hymas was established. Alfred Hymas Ltd is one of the largest family-owned bulk hauliers in North Yorkshire and has built-up and maintained a high reputation within the haulage industry. Alfred Hymas Ltd specialises in bulk haulage, predominantly serving the aggregate and agricultural industries.
