Alfred Hymas Ltd is one of the largest family owned bulk haulier in North Yorkshire.
Established in Burton Leonard, near Harrogate more than 110 years ago, the Company has built-up and maintained a high reputation within the haulage industry. Today, the Company’s fleet is 76 HGV's, employing 112 members of staff. The Company operates from a purpose-built depot in Great North Road, Sinderby, Thirsk, which we moved to in 2020. Alfred Hymas Ltd specialises in bulk haulage, predominantly serving the aggregate and agricultural industries.

Here at Alfred Hymas Ltd, our fleet of 76 HGVs (predominantly Volvo & Mercedes) operate Nationwide and specialise in bulk Haulage transporting a whopping *2 million tonnes per year, equating to 6500 tonnes per day! We are responsible for the movement of heavy load and bulk items, with a particular speciality in building and agricultural products. We have a range of HGVs, equipped to service the bulk Haulage industry, including; Rigids, Artics, and Walk-In Floor Trailers Approximately 55% of our workload is made up with the movement of aggregates to construction related businesses across the UK, including:
- Sand
- Gravel
- Top soil
- Slate
The other major arm to our services is agricultural haulage including:
- Animal feeds
- Grains
The remainder of our workload is spontaneous, often including the movement of coal.
